He lifted her chin and their eyes met. Silent fireworks. He leaned his towering frame down to her petite one as if to shelter her. A soft smile danced across both of their faces before he leaned in for a soft kiss. When two people have been together for a while, they begin to develop their own language without having to say anything. That powerful connection can be felt by anyone who interacts with that couple. I could tell Amanda and Danny were one of those couples when I shot with them at Dunbar Cave for their engagement session one Sunday afternoon. Danny is a strong stoic type who doesn't need many words to convey his feelings and Amanda is the perfect partner for him because she can decode him with one glance. It was like watching a silent movie, no words but everything just made sense.
Danny is preparing for "an extended business trip" with the Army in the near future and Amanda is planning to keep busy with school and wedding plans while he is away. I'm sure she will be counting the days until her sweetheart is home safe and sound and they can begin their exciting new adventure together after too long separated by distance. As a military spouse myself, I know the pains of long distance love all too well but it is always the sweetest feeling when your heart is whole again and you can wrap your arms around each other.
Amanda and Danny, congratulations on your engagement! I know the next several months will be trying, but hold onto the fantastic memories you've built together over the last six years and I know you will get through this time apart like it was nothing. Thank you for allowing me to spend an evening witnessing a piece of your love story.
