Liberty Park Elopement Session | Clarksville Couples Photographer | Taylor + Jake

In December I met up with a young Army couple at Starbucks to talk about having a small couples session for their upcoming courthouse wedding in January. Courthouse weddings may not be common everywhere, but in the Army life, no one thinks twice when they hear that their friends are foregoing the big, traditional wedding to elope and go to the courthouse to tie the knot. What set Taylor and Jake apart from the average Army couple courthouse wedding is that they wanted it to truly feel like a wedding day instead of just a day they legally got married, and that should be celebrated. We picked a location close to the county courthouse that would have some pretty backdrops even in the dead of winter and planned to meet up a month later at Liberty Park in downtown Clarksville.

Over the weeks following our Starbucks meeting, Taylor and I emailed back and forth planning, wondering if the weather would hold out, and exchanging ideas for how we could make their wedding photos the images of their dreams. As an Army wife myself, I have a special place in my heart for others who are joining our ranks and supporting their soldier in his desire to serve our country, so I had to be sure these images didn't just meet her expectations but well exceeded them.

When the day finally arrived we were blessed with no rain, but the high temperature for the day was 45 degrees!!! BRRRR! Jake and Taylor arrived at Liberty Park dressed to the nines! Jake looked sharp in his dress blues and Taylor could take her groom's breath away in a stunning white mermaid wedding dress with pearl details. I was cold and I had layers on, I can't even imagine how Taylor felt. I was so impressed, they never once showed their discomfort with the cold weather. It could be that they are just really great at taking photos, but I think their love and excitement over being husband and wife is what kept them warm.

Their families also joined us from Missouri and Michigan. They had come to witness their special day and the mamas even had corsages! It was so precious. I mean how often does your child get married? It was so sweet to hear Taylor and Jake's parents talking about how excited they were for their children to have found the person they are meant to spend the rest of their lives with.

I am so honored that Taylor and Jake chose me to capture their special day. Congratulations SGT & Mrs. Lauria! I hope life blesses y'all with all kinds of wonderful adventures as husband and wife.
